Midterms, wedding stuff, or crafts?

I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off the past couple of weeks. My schedule went from being pretty consistent to not having enough hours in the day for everything I needed to get done. So, I don't really know how to fit everything in right now.
Because my brain is basically spaghetti I don't think I can hold a good enough train of thought to write a good post. So, this one will just be a quick update to try and clear out some of the mumbo jumbo floating around up there :)

Alright well, these are some more signs. The one on the leftt was a custom order for The Fizz and the one on the right is a gift for my new nephew! (If he ever gets here). I just hope he doesn't wait much longer cause I already wrote in March :)

And these are a few new tins for family. The one on the right is for my cousin who is getting married in April. Annnd the Red Sox was for my cousin-in-law.

Annnd finally! This is the scarf that Deborah won a while back. I love the verse she chose "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future." Proverbs 31:25. PERFECT for this scarf.

Now thats all I've done for crafts recently. I have a lot of stuff lined up for the Fizz that I need to get done later this week.
This was  my most recent sculpture project. It was my first group project in an art class and at first I was not excited about it. But I got a really great group and we came up with a fantastic idea. This project was to come up with a sculpture that could be placed outside of the future CVA building. We had to create a design proposal complete with a budget and materials list.
This is the site model, meaning we made a scaled down version of the proposed CVA building site and the sculpture.

Our idea behind this sculpture was to combine the 3 different arts, the plastic arts(sculpture/painting/ceramics ect), structural arts (architecture etc.), and the performing arts (dance/theatre/music). This sculpture is a place that will bring the 3 arts together and reach out towards the rest of campus to create a gathering space. Each of the arms/branches represents one of the arts and they meet and swirl together before spreading back out towards campus. We have then placed leaf like swings and chairs that would create gathering places for students to come and sketch, relax, eat lunch, or even hold a class lecture.

The image below was created by one of my group members to show the birds eye view of our sculpture.

This was a lot of research and not a lot of actual building but it turned out to be more fun than expected and I totally learned a LOT.

Basically, thats all I have done art wise recently. I've been making progress on some wedding plans which I'll try and update you guys on soon. I love sharing how God is blessing Reed and I. He has shown us so much grace and given us more than we deserve that it makes us even more excited to share our story with everyone.

Next week is spring break so I will hopefully be able to catch up on life. Reed will be flying to Nicaragua with one of his good friends for the week. I wish I could go with him but I know he needs some man time and I have loads to get done here.

But in less than 5 months I will be marrying my best friend!!

fun Signs

Just started doing some new stuff for the Fizz!
These are a few of the new wooden signs that will hopefully become a regular in the store!

Maybe they will be a part of the next giveaway???

(the large sign on the left says "Be kind be truthful and your tree will be fruitful" the paint is metallic so its hard to get a good picture but it looks good in person!!)

These signs can be customized, if anyone is interested let me know!

Procrastination

Hello long lost friends! Sorry I have been so slack about keeping yall updated on projects! But, in all honesty, I've been slack on DOING projects. My room is still basically all white. My armoire has now made it in the room so all that is left to do is hang pictures! The chicken wire wall is still half finished but its coming along, slowly. And classes have officially started! Next week my first projects are due which means this will begin the long weekends spent in the studio! I can't wait to show yall my projects from school but as it is with all school work, I have already started to procrastinate a little... Tonight I really just didn't feel like doing architecture reading and its too dark to take pictures or go to the botanical gardens and I don't have a buddy to go weld in sculpture studio with either. So, maybe it wasn't procrastination. Anyway, after doing some busy work for my architecture class I needed a creative outlet and I noticed that my bathroom was really white. As usual, I decided to paint a canvas to hang to add a pop to the walls.
Not exactly the best looking sign I have ever made, but basically this is the mantra I live my life by :)

Annnnd this canvas I made when I first moved in when I was avoiding unpacking. It has the "You Are My Sunshine" lyrics written in the blue strip along the mountains.
I just really enjoy being crafty. I know I'm an art major but sometimes I feel like arts and crafts can be more fun and relaxing than fine art. I LOVE BOTH please don't get me wrong but this is the type of stuff I do when I want to rest my brain; nice, easy, blocks of color.

Hopefully I can post tomorrow night with my finished bedroom and the finished chicken wire wall! My mom and little sister are coming to visit saturday morning and I would LOOOVE to have it all done!

a "quickie" post

Ok, I'm still in the process of moving. It has been a week and I am still living out of suitcases and piles of clothing on the floor. And a lovely surprise at this new apartment is that the internet is extremely moody. So, I haven't been able to update you guys as much as I was hoping too. Butttt, maybe this will keep you guys checking in. Suspense is a good thing, right??

All of that a side, this post is gonna be short and to the point because I don't know how long my internet connection will last!!

A few weeks ago I was able to finish two signs for my Aunt and Uncles new beach house in Cherry Grove, SC. They renamed the beach house from "Penny Pincher" to "Absolute Paradise", which is very fitting because the house looks like absolute paradise and I hope I get a chance to visit very soon!! Anyway, along with a new name they needed new signs to advertise their rental. I was given the dimensions, name of the house and was told to go from there! This is what I think of when the word paradise is mentioned and luckily it fit perfectly in line with what my Aunt and Uncle wanted!!

(The two signs are identical so I didn't feel the need to post them both.)

Hopefully the moving process will end soon and maybe by some miracle my internet will decide what it wants to do. I hope you guys keep checking in because I promise I have LOTS of fun new projects I want to share!!
