fun Signs

Just started doing some new stuff for the Fizz!
These are a few of the new wooden signs that will hopefully become a regular in the store!

Maybe they will be a part of the next giveaway???

(the large sign on the left says "Be kind be truthful and your tree will be fruitful" the paint is metallic so its hard to get a good picture but it looks good in person!!)

These signs can be customized, if anyone is interested let me know!

Crafty Gifts

Today has been a bit of a slow day. Not too busy with school or work. I've got a few projects I need to get on this week. Like new wooden signs for The Fizz, goodies for my soon to be nephew, and save-the-dates for the wedding. Hopefully I will be able to knock these out this weekend, or at least start on them!
I figured with some of this free time I could finally show you guys what I did for Reed on Valentines day. He is a huge gift person which makes him hard to buy for. He loves to start giving me a list of things he would like about a month before any holiday. Some people would think that makes it easy but I like to surprise him so I never get him anything off of his list... This time I couldn't come up with a big gift worthy of valentines day so I decided to make a cutesy gift out of a lot of smaller things.

I'm sure that people get tired of me giving handmade gifts all the time so this time I added a little twist. I gave Reed a few smaller gifts that he wanted and packaged them in a crafty way that I really enjoyed. I think this is the best of both worlds.

I put each gift in a tool belt I got from Walmart for under $5 and added funny little tags. This is the tags I put on each gift.
New magazine for his pistol: Hope you NAIL your target.
New holster for his pistol: DRILL those bad guys!
New sunglass froglegs: SAW these and thought of you.
Beef O'Bradys gift card: Don't HAMMER down too hard!
Candy: Hope this gift MEASURES up!!

I had a great time putting this together and Reed was really enjoying unwrapping it. I couldn't tell if he was just excited for the physical gifts or if he was laughing at my clever tags. I know he loved it and he even said he was so glad I am creative :)

I also made another custom scarf for a great friend at Erin Galloway Interiors. For this scarf she wanted all the most important dates in her life. I think this turned out really cute!

Also! Don't forget to comment on the Giveaway post for a chance to win your own scarf!

Giveaway

Ok, I have been thinking about how I can grow my blog. I want to share this with people and I want to get some of my work out to people that aren't friends or family. Don't get me wrong, I love the support I get from friends and family but now I want to take on a little more. I've gotten some advice and done a little research on how to grow as a blogger, artist, and businesswoman. And everything said I've got to get people interested. I've tried to blog more often (still working on it) and I've attempted to open an Etsy store (it is open but have yet to have any takers) so now I am attempting a giveaway!
I've never done this before so be patient. I am going to start off small and if this is successful maybe I can grow with my giveaways too.

For this first giveaway I am offering a customized scarf. I have these custom scarves in my Etsy store for $25 and thought this would make a great start to, what will hopefully, be a fairly regular giveaway.

If your interested comment below with what you would like to customize your scarf with and I will pick a winner Thursday night!!
This means you need to be checking in to see who is announced as the winner!!

So, I haven't updated in a while. Probably because I am trying to not let my life be consumed by wedding non-sense therefore I am trying my hardest to not be on the computer constantly :)
But! I do have some art projects to show you! We had our first crit in sculpture about a week ago and it was pretty interesting. The project was called "Operation Tri-Star" which basically meant we had to go to this store in Seneca and pick out 3 random objects from randomly assigned isles and make a sculpture with them. I was not a fan. My mind is not being creative unless it has something to do with the wedding and so I have really struggled feeling confident about any of my school work recently. I hate this feeling, I don't want to be consumed by this wedding in the least. I mean, its not the wedding that matters. I'm marrying Reed and that is gonna happen with or without the band, caterer and photographer.
(Sorry for the wedding rant).
Basically, I am stalled on all of my projects because of this constant BIG project in August. So this project was very stressful. I needed to be working and I had a very open but also very narrow project description. I went to Tri-Star to gain inspiration and left with tin snips, 8 pin wheels, and a baby pool. I didn't know what to do other than I wanted to use it to create a garden. I wasn't sure at the time what it meant or why I wanted to do that but I knew I wanted to.

As I was working I began to develop a concept having a lot to do with a specific site on campus. I was thinking about this picturesque stream near Lee hall. From the road it is beautiful, romantic and a place you could envision yourself visiting with your dream man. But, when you learn the history of it, not so much. This stream is a runoff from all over campus. Basically, they saw that there was a runoff issue and instead of fixing the problem they disguised it. Obviously this didn't fix the issue. When you actually visit the stream you see all kind of debris from construction, litter, and the water is covered with oil spots. I chose to call attention to this by creating a sculpture that started at the top of the hill and fallowed the natural water flow from the road.

This was a beautiful "picturesque" garden with the ideal grass and flowers. It then began to flow and sort of turned in to this goo that was trickling down the hillside towards the stream. Once it reached the stream it opened up and revealed the truth about itself and the stream.

I am not an environmentalist. But I do think that we as humans try to cover up a lot. I don't like that so often we start out with good intentions but then become overcome with laziness and find the easy way out. This sculpture I hope speaks about how we allow the "beauty" to mask what is really going on.

Alright. So that got pretty deep. I wasn't really expecting that. Butttt I do have an idea for the blog. I would like to generate more followers and what not. Soooo some time this weekend I am going to post a give away. I'm not sure what it will be yet but keep your eyes open because it will most definitely be an original piece of art!! :) (If you have any suggestions let me know in the comment section).
